StoryMapping with ArcGIS

Learn how to tell the story of your research with an ArcGIS story map! In this course we learn & help you to build a visual story based on scientific research. With StoryMapping you can give your narrative a stronger sense of place, simply illustrate relationships between places and add visual examples such as photos or videos to your ideas.

Who Should Attend?

If you are a researcher and you want to reach a wider audience with your research and want to learn how to make an engaging web map, this workshop is for you! In this workshop you learn to craft engaging, interactive stories using maps to showcase your research.

No prior experience is needed but the learning goals of the course will be differentiated based on the participant’s skills.

Goal

Participants can expect to learn the key concepts of storytelling and web-mapping in this course. If participants have their own set of maps and other multimedia ready-for-use they can take this with them in the course. If not, we have prepared a challenging set of materials which they can use and experience the full possibilities of StoryMapping.

Part of the ArcGIS Series

This workshop is the third and final part of the ArcGIS series:

1. Introduction to ArcGIS for PhD Students – Introduction for PhD students to start using ArcGIS in their research.
2. Into the World of Online Mapping (ArcGIS) – Dive deeper into cloud-based GIS tools for collaboration and analysis.
3. StoryMapping with ArcGIS (this course)
